When Jesus was being tempted in the desert, He told Satan in Matthew 4:4, “It is written. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY word that comes from the mouth of God.”

So that means that just as we must eat to live, reading the Word of God is just as important! The Bible is our (Christian’s) owner’s manual. A manual means a maker’s guide. When you buy a new phone, it comes with an owner’s manual. We rarely ever read it, but we glance through to learn a few details or principles of how to use the phone.

So now back to the Bible. It is given to us by our Maker to guide us on how to live. When we read it, we learn God’s principles on how He (God) expects us to act and live. When you read the Bible, the Bible reads you and it develops our Christ-like life. When I dedicated myself to reading God’s Word every day and most days twice a day, my life truly changed. If you know me from church, you have seen it yourselves. So just like the phone, you may only use 10% of its functions (principles) but if you were to read the maker’s guide you would know how to use many other functions (principles) on the phone.

So guess what? When you get in that Bible and start reading it to live, you will function with the principles of God and it will be evident in your life! The Bible is our Maker’s Guide and it is our biggest gift, our only offensive weapon, and it is absolutely critical for every Christian to read it daily! Other books about the manual are OK, but the Manual (Bible) is a must. I hope this inspires and provokes you to read or continue to read our Maker’s Guide we call the Bible.
